Cold Fast — refrigeration training in the field
01Refrigeration Training & Development Mentoring

Learn it. Diagnose it. Fix it.

Practical refrigeration training for technicians who want to know how the job actually works — taught by techs who diagnose, commission, repair and build refrigeration systems in the field.

00Who's Behind Cold Fast

Run by working fridgies, not a marketing team.

Cold Fast is run by Paul and his son — working refrigeration and air-conditioning mechanics, backed by PJ Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning at Moffat Beach on the Sunshine Coast. The training comes from real fault finding, real commissioning and real systems — not a textbook.

Not an RTO

Cold Fast is a skills development and training brand, not an RTO. We do not issue, award, replace or deliver a nationally recognised qualification.

02Why Cold Fast

This isn't training written by someone who's only worked from a textbook.

Cold Fast is built around real refrigeration work — commercial refrigeration, coldrooms, specialist refrigeration, process cooling, glycol systems, chilled water systems, air conditioning and complex fault-finding. The kind of work that goes wrong at 11pm on a Sunday and has to be fixed properly.

We don't do corporate bullshit. We don't sell "industry-leading solutions". We teach technicians the way techs actually talk to each other on site — straight, practical, and technical.

03What We Teach

Built around real refrigeration work.

Bridge the gap between theory and the real job

Cert II → Cert III Skills Development

Cert II gives you the basics. Cert III expects you to actually diagnose, commission and repair refrigeration systems. Cold Fast is built to help you close that gap with practical skills development — not a qualification, not a classroom repeat.

Open
The cycle, the pressures, the temperatures — properly

Refrigeration Fundamentals

If you don't actually understand the refrigeration cycle, pressure/temperature relationships, superheat and subcooling, everything downstream is guesswork. We teach it properly, in plain language, tied to what you'll see on your gauges.

Open
Stop guessing. Build a method

Fault Finding

Most techs struggle with fault-finding because they never learned a method — they learned to swap parts. Cold Fast teaches a repeatable diagnostic process built from real field work, so you find the actual fault, not the symptom.

Open
Systems that have to stay cold — or someone loses money

Commercial Refrigeration

Commercial refrigeration is a different game: bigger systems, more controls, defrost, multiple evaps, rack systems. We cover the real stuff — commercial coldrooms, process cooling, glycol, chilled water — taught from jobs we've actually done.

Open
The bread and butter — done properly

Coolrooms & Freezer Rooms

Coolrooms and freezer rooms are where a lot of refrigeration techs earn their keep — and where a lot of avoidable failures happen. We cover selection, install, commissioning, defrost and the faults that keep them running.

Open
If you can't read the circuit, you can't find the fault

Electrical & Controls

A huge chunk of refrigeration faults are electrical or control-related. We teach you to read control circuits, fault-find electrical components, and understand the controls that run modern refrigeration systems.

Open
Hands-on, with real gear — not a slideshow

Practical Workshops

Cold Fast runs practical workshops where you get your hands on real refrigeration gear: gauges, manifolds, recovery units, brazing kit, live systems. Built for techs who learn by doing.

04Who It's For

If you work on refrigeration, this is for you.

Cert II students

Get past the theory and into how systems actually behave.

Apprentices heading to Cert III

Build the practical skills and diagnostic method Cert III expects.

Junior technicians

Stop swapping parts and start finding the real fault.

Techs low on fault-finding confidence

A repeatable method, not guesswork.

Air-con techs moving into refrigeration

Bridge into refrigeration properly — pressures, metering, defrost.

Experienced techs sharpening up

Tune your diagnostics and pick up what you missed.

Employers

Practical development for your junior techs — less hand-holding, fewer comebacks.
