Callback Prevention & Verification
Advanced
The verification routines and common mistakes that separate a finished job from a callback.
Callbacks come from unverified work. The fix is a verification routine you run on every job — prove the fault, prove the repair, and re-check what you disturbed.
Verification routine
- Prove the fault before you repair.
- Prove the repair before you leave (readings back in range).
- Re-check any fitting you disturbed.
- Re-check access points after reinstating.
- Record the readings on the job sheet.
Common callback causes
- Resetting a safety without finding the cause.
- Topping up refrigerant without finding the leak.
- Leaving a service valve in the wrong position.
- Disturbing an access fitting and not rechecking it.
- Not evacuating properly after opening the system.
- Setting controls from memory.
- Guessing a leak location from the oil stain.
